Upper Midwest edges out Northeast for lowest divorce rates

This table from the National Center for Health Statistics gives the divorce rate of each state that keeps track of divorces, for 2011 and every year back to 1999, plus 1995 and 1990.

Lowest-divorce states in 2011:

• Iowa with 2.4 divorces per 1000 population (i.e. 0.48% of population divorcing in 2011)
• Illinois 2.6
• Massachusetts and North Dakota: 2.7
• Pennsylvania 2.8
• Wisconsin, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, D.C.: 2.9

Failing to report are California, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Louisiana, and Minnesota.
