US divorce rate steady at 3.6/1000 (i.e., 0.72%) for 2011

3.6 divorces per 1000 population means 0.72% of Americans got married in 2011.

And the marriage rate was likewise steady at 6.8/1000 (i.e., 1.36% of Americans got married in 2011).

The divorce rate steadily fell until 2005, when it reached 3.6. Its lowest point was 3.5 in  2008 and 2009. The marriage rate has declined consistently from 8.2 in 2000, reaching its current low of 6.8 in 2009 and staying there.
